Donations
The Alberta Block Parent® Association raises funds it requires by door to door solicitation. The Program does not conduct telephone solicitations.
Funds raised by Alberta Block Parent® Association (ABPA) go towards setting up and maintaining Block Parent® Programs throughout the Province of Alberta. The Program provides initial materials such as application forms, posters, brochures and other promotional items, office support and up to date school resources such as kindergarten books and Division I and Division II videos for use whilst conducting school safety programs.
In 2011, funds were used to produce new Halloween Safety Brochures and also a new Division I video to replace the one produced over 11 years ago. This video was made possible by funds from an Alberta Government Grant as follows:
Total cost of the video - $50,000
Alberta Government Grant - $28,625
Balance of cost from funds raised during door to door donation campaign - $21,375.
In 2011 it is hoped to raise $37,880 at an estimated cost of $14,000.
22% of donations raised is held in a separate account and, at the end of the year, is forwarded to the Block Parent® Program where the funds were raised. If there is no Block Parent® Program in that town/city then the funds are held for a period of two years. If, during that period a Block Parent® Program is started, the funds are given to that Program. If, at the end of the two year period, no Program has started, then the funds are deposited in the ABPA general account to be used to assist all Alberta Block Parent® Programs.
The Alberta Block Parent® Association is incorporated in the Province of Alberta and is a registered charity – number 140783929RR0001.
